2009 Event Schedule
THURSDAY May 7
- 3:00pm to 6:30pm — Early Packet Pickup option at
Fess Parker Doubletree Resort in Santa Barbara. Wine/food reception with art and film showing to follow.
- 6:30pm to 8:00pm — Reception, poster exhibit & signing and showing of the documentary "Running for My Father".
Must sign up for this event online or at Santa Barbara Running Co. - $15 per person. More details on registration page.
FRIDAY May 8
- 10am to 6:00pm Expo/7:00pm packet pick up — Race Expo at Marriott in Buellton. Exhibitors,
sampling, seminar, and event merchandise sales until 6pm, packet pickup until 7pm.
- 11:30am to 1:30pm — Bicycle course preview tour with
Bart Yasso of Runners World and Santa Barbara Wine Country Cycling Tours. Bikes, lunch and
support provided. Ride the course from Santa Ynez to Solvang.
- 3:00pm to 4:00pm — Seminar: Functional Foods for Runners, presented by Nutritionist and Trainer, Melissa Guthrie from Phoenix, AZ
- 6:00pm to 7:30pm — Welcome Reception with wine tasting, appetizers and guest speaker Bart Yasso,
Travel Editor of Runners World magazine. Roblar Winery in Los Olivos. Must register online ($20).
- 5:00 to 9:00pm — Runner dinner specials offered are participating restaurants in the Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara (details TBA).
SATURDAY May 9
- 5:15 to 6:30am — Transportation to start, late packet pickup and warm-up at
Maverick Saloon on Sagunto St. in Santa Ynez. Must sign up and pay for late pickup ($15 in advance - $20 at race)
- 7:00am — RACE START on Sagunto St. in Santa Ynez
- 8:00am to 10:30am — Race Finish on Copenhagen and First St. in Solvang
- 9:30am to Noon — Wine & Music Festival in Solvang Park presented by THE SANTA BARBARA INDEPENDENT
- 10:30 to 11:00am — Awards Ceremony in Solvang Park, Presented by RaboBank
- 10:00am to 6:00pm — Special offers at various tasting rooms, wineries and other area merchants in Solvang, Los Olivos and Santa Ynez on Sat and Sun.
- 3:00 to 5:30pm — Special VIP wine-tasting tour in Santa Ynez Valley with event staff and Bart Yasso of Runners World. Sign up at
information desk at race expo or email raceinfo@destinationraces.com. Limited spots on shuttle.
- 3:00 to 6:00pm — Post-race deck party at Maverick Saloon with live band & BBQ

Race Day Transportation Schedule
SATURDAY May 9
- 5:20am — Bus transportation from Doubletree Resort in Santa Barbara to race start. Approx. 50 minute trip. Must purchase reserve online. $20
for roundtrip if purchased prior to May 4th.
- 5:15 to 6:20am — Transportation from Solvang Park to the start — Buses leave every 5 to 10 minutes (4 mile trip)
- 5:30 and 6:15am — Transportation from Marriott in Buellton to Start
- 5:30 to 6:30am — Transportation from Santa Ynez Valley High School to the start — Buses leave every 10 minutes (1 mile trip)
Note: Longhorn Café and Roasted Bean Coffee house are open at 5:30am in Santa Ynez near start area. El Rancho Market in Santa Ynez across from the high school parking lot is open at 6:00am.
- 7:00am — Solvang Park to relay transition area in Los Olivos
- 7:20am — Solvang Park to Los Olivos relay transition area
- 7:30am — Transportation from start area to Solvang Park
RETURNS:
- 8:10 & 8:30am — Los Olivos (relay transition area) to Finish Area
- 9:30am to Noon (every 30 minutes) — Solvang Park to Santa Ynez
- 11:00 & Noon — Solvang Park to Marriott in Buellton
- 11:30am Solvang Park to Fess Parker Doubletree in Santa Barbara
